Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 18, 2026

1. Introduction

Teton Web Ventures LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates dns-csv.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Information you provide

  • Email address — when you sign in via magic link or complete a Stripe checkout.
  • Payment information — processed directly by Stripe. We never store card numbers or CVV codes.
  • Account name — derived from your email address when an account is created automatically after checkout.

2b. Information collected automatically

  • DNS query domains — the domain names you look up are recorded to enforce daily free-tier limits and, for paid users, to power scan history.
  • Anonymous session ID — a randomly generated identifier stored in your browser's localStorage to track free-tier usage without requiring an account.
  • IP address — used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Not stored beyond the current request.
  • Usage analytics — aggregated, anonymised page-view data via Umami (a privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics tool). No personal data is sent to Umami.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the Service, including enforcing usage limits and storing scan history for paid users.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe.
  • To send transactional emails (magic link sign-in, subscription confirmations) via Resend.
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
  • To communicate service updates and important account notices.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. DNS Queries

All DNS lookups are performed via DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) using Cloudflare's public resolver (cloudflare-dns.com). Cloudflare's own privacy policy applies to those requests. We do not log or store the raw DNS responses beyond what is needed to display results to you and, for paid users, to populate scan history.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We use a single session cookie (dns_session) to keep you signed in. This cookie is HTTP-only, Secure, and SameSite=Lax. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

A random anonymous ID is stored in localStorage to track free-tier usage for users who are not signed in. You can clear this at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.

6. Data Retention

  • Free users: daily lookup counts are reset every 24 hours. No scan history is retained.
  • Pro users: scan history is retained for 30 days.
  • Growth users: scan history is retained for 90 days.
  • Scale users: scan history is retained for 365 days.
  • Account data: retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Cloudflare — DNS-over-HTTPS resolver and CDN.
  • Umami — privacy-first, cookie-free analytics.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@dns-csv.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy and any disputes arising under it are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
